05 Jul 100 miles in 24 hours, all in aid of GAFIRS
Alan Parr, a local resident, has taken up the challenge of riding 100 miles in 24 hours, all in aid of raising money for GAFIRS. When we heard that Alan was going to achieve this on a kick-scooter, we were stunned! If you don’t know what a kick-scooter is, the above photo shows you how this makes it a very big challenge. Starting at 10:00BST on Saturday 6th July 2019, Alan will start from GAFIRS and do 100 laps of the Gosport Golden Mile. To achieve this, Alan must maintain 4.1mph, for 24-hours straight – and this is without time to stop for refreshments or comfort breaks.
Alan said “Between 6th & 7th July I am attempting to ride 100 miles in 24 hours along the seafront at Stokes Bay. This is to raise funds for GAFIRS. It costs £900 to kit out one member of the crew and they do not get paid for what they do. I go out on the water and it’s reassuring to know that those guys will help if I’m in trouble. Please donate to this worthwhile charity and it would be great to see you on the day if you can make it down to Stokes Bay.”
